Dirtea Face & Body Scrubs

It’s time to get down and Dirtea.

As you may have gathered from previous grooming posts, I’m a huge fan of a scrub, be it for face or body, and know lots of beauty bloggers may dislike me for saying this, but the harsher the better. I want grit; I want friction (hell, give me chemicals). Scrubs are the favourite part of my skincare routine and I’m yet to find anything that works as affectively. So as you can imagine, I was smiling ear-to-ear when a package from Dirtea arrived at my desk.… Read the rest.

Reimagine the Kebab at Le Bab Soho

On the long list of why living in London is so great (I’m choosing to ignore the downsides of the cost of rent!), on of the highest entries has got to be the food. London is a hotbed for new and exciting eateries and I’ve made it my life’s mission to eat at them all. Well, maybe not all of them, but by jove I’ll try. HA!

One of London’s latest additions is Le Bab, the new home of gourmet kebabs in the city. Founded by university friends, Stephen and Ed, Le Bab was born out of the gent’s mutual interest in the ancient gastronomy of the iconic kebab.… Read the rest.

For the Love of Timberland

What’s in a name?

If there was one brand I could associate with my childhood, or more specifically, my teen years, it would be Timberland.

I’ve been a fan of their iconic tan boots for as long as I can remember thanks to numerous American teen dramas and the like. Now, not all of those characters may have been wearing actual branded Timbs, but the product has become so much a part of the zeitgeist that the term ‘Timberlands’ have near enough become the eponym for tan, lace-up boots. From pop divas like Beyonce to hi-hop legends like The Notorious B.I.G, Timberlands have been name checked for decades.… Read the rest.

Men’s Shaving: The Latest Releases

Though the people in the know have heralded the decline of men’s infatuations with all things beardy, just a quick look around shows that this isn’t necessarily the case. Men are still sporting beards of all shapes and sizes. If this trend really is starting to die off, it is taking its sweet time.

But this hasn’t stopped the grooming world for making sure that no matter your preference, the tools you need are readily available.

Take here’s the latest in men’s shaving from Braun, Wahl and Gillette.… Read the rest.

Men’s Grooming Trends – Backstage at London Collections Men AW16

Come backstage with me at London Collections Men AW16 as I take a look at the latest grooming trends…

I can’t believe another season of LCM has been and gone! It’s always such a blast and over too soon. There were plenty of grooming goings on behind the scenes at the shows, so I headed backstage with the Bumble and Bumble and Fudge Hair teams to see what styles us gents will be rocking come autumn time.

I’ll be covering looks more in depth later in the year, but it was nice to see some of the super-slick styles of previous seasons starting to relax. Those perfectly coiffed quiffs are staring to fall and curl at the ends-shown perfectly at Pieter-and the wet-look styles are also keeping pace; still to extremes that I hope doesn’t catch on, but the high-shine finish is definitely a trend to take up.

There was definitely a heavy push towards texture, working with the model’s natural hair styles and working them into the relevant look. Salt Spray was the product at choice at multiple shows and there was numerous uses of prepping tonics – highlighting a need to truly care for your hair when styling; think intense blow-drying etc.

There were still a lot of retro influences, harking back to The Beatles (as well as closer-to-home 90s influences thanks to Noel and Liam Gallagher), shown at Casely-Hayford.

The Architect of Style Shoot

They you can find inspiration anywhere; from the papers you read to the world around you. Truer can’t be said for Toni Tran, aka ‘Fashitects‘. An architect graduate, Toni transitioned his studies and love of design into an exploration of fashion and lifestyle. Recently I had the pleasure of working with Toni on a shoot for Harvey Nichols during their ‘Art of Style’ month. I approached Toni with the ‘Architect of Style’ concept of shooting him in and around London, in locations of architectural interest, reflecting his own personal style and showcasing how he uses architecture to inspire his look.
